Punjab Safe Cities Authority Reunites Woman with Family After Two Decades
The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) achieved a remarkable success on Tuesday by reuniting a woman with her biological family after a separation spanning two decades. The woman had been kidnapped from Gilgit in 2005 and was trafficked as a child to Lahore's Data Darbar area, where she was abandoned by the perpetrators.
Discovery and Upbringing
Found in a destitute condition, she was taken in by a compassionate citizen who raised her as his own daughter. Later, she was married in Muzaffargarh and became a mother of three children, living a life unaware of her true origins.
Key Clues and Investigation
Recently, the woman approached the PSCA Virtual Centre for Child Safety through the "Mera Pyara Center," sharing crucial information about her identity. This included her ability to speak the Shina language, which is commonly spoken in parts of Gilgit, and the preservation of the clothes she was wearing when found by her adoptive family.
The PSCA team launched an extensive social media search campaign using her photograph and the preserved clothing as key evidence. They coordinated closely with Gilgit Police to expand the investigation across provincial boundaries.
Successful Reunion
Through inter-provincial coordination and advanced technological support, her biological family was successfully traced. After completing all necessary legal formalities, the woman was safely reunited with her family, who expressed overwhelming joy and gratitude upon meeting their long-lost daughter.
Public Appeal
The PSCA spokesperson urged citizens to report missing or abandoned individuals promptly by calling the emergency helpline 15 for timely assistance, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in such cases.
