Sahibzada Farhan Leads Pakistan in Asian Games 2026

LONDON: Sahibzada Farhan has been appointed captain of the Pakistan men's cricket team for the Asian Games 2026, scheduled to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from 19 September to 4 October. The 10-team Men's T20I event will take place at Korogi Athletic Park in Aichi Prefecture, with the cricket competition starting on 24 September and medal matches on 3 October.

Farhan's Experience and Squad Details

The 30-year-old Farhan has played 46 T20Is for Pakistan, scoring 1,305 runs, including two centuries and 10 half-centuries. Abdul Samad, who has featured in five T20Is, has been named vice-captain. The 15-member squad includes four uncapped players: Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Maaz Sadaqat, and Saad Masood. Additionally, 14 of the 15 selected players are part of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) White-Ball Camp, which begins in Lahore on 15 June.

Women's Team to Tour Sri Lanka

Pakistan women's team will tour Sri Lanka for a six-match white-ball series in Hambantota later next month. All matches will be played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium. The three ODIs on 23, 25, and 28 July are part of the ICC Women's Championship 2025-29. Pakistan currently ranks second in the championship with eight points from six matches, while New Zealand leads with 13 points from nine matches.

The tour also includes three T20Is on 31 July, 2 August, and 4 August. Both teams are currently in the UK for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup starting 12 June. In head-to-head T20I encounters, Pakistan leads 11-9 against Sri Lanka, with one no-result. In ODIs, Pakistan has won 11 and lost 22 out of 34 matches, with one no-result.
