Marvel Studios has released the first official concept art for Avengers: Doomsday, offering a detailed look at Doctor Doom alongside several returning X-Men characters ahead of the film's scheduled December 2026 release. The artwork was first shown by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige during Bilibiliworld in Shanghai before being shared on X by former Marvel visual development director Andy Park.
Artist's Personal Milestone
Park, who said he led visual development on the film before being laid off earlier this year, described the illustration as a significant milestone in his career. "Avengers: Doomsday — the final full film I had the honor of leading as Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios. This illustration commemorates that journey and reveals the characters and their looks for the first time," Park wrote on X.
Key Characters in the Artwork
The artwork places Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., at its centre while also featuring Loki in a key position, suggesting the character may play an important role in the story. Returning X-Men characters shown include Nightcrawler, portrayed by Alan Cumming, Beast, played by Kelsey Grammer, and Mystique, played by Rebecca Romijn.
Film's Director and Line-Up
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday reunites heroes from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the wider multiverse. Alongside the Fantastic Four, the film's line-up includes Thor, Captain America, Falcon, Shuri, M'Baku, Ant-Man and Shang-Chi.
Loki's Significance
The concept art also reinforces Loki's importance following the ending of the second season of Loki, in which he became the guardian of the multiverse's branching timelines. With Doctor Doom emerging as the franchise's next major antagonist, the artwork suggests those realities may soon collide.
Release Date
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released in cinemas on December 18, 2026.
