Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has successfully completed its pre-Hajj flight operation, transporting more than 53,000 pilgrims to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina through 210 flights this year, according to a PIA spokesperson.
Operational Success
The spokesperson stated that the operation concluded on May 21, achieving a 97 percent success rate during the pre-Hajj arrangements. PIA also reported that its on-time flight departures exceeded the airline’s target by seven percent during the operation, reflecting improved efficiency and coordination.
Post-Hajj Arrangements
Officials confirmed that the post-Hajj operation will commence on May 30 and continue until June 30. During this period, pilgrims will be brought back to Pakistan after completing their Hajj rituals. PIA is expected to maintain high standards of service for the return journey.
Welfare Staff Deployment
Figures shared by the Ministry of Religious Affairs revealed that 96 percent of the total welfare staff, comprising 1,517 personnel, have already assumed their responsibilities. The welfare staff has been deployed to provide essential services, guidance, and medical assistance to pilgrims during Hajj, ensuring a smooth and safe pilgrimage experience.
In related news, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir is in Tehran, and hopes are growing for a potential US-Iran deal, though this development is separate from the Hajj operations.
