LAHORE - Pakistan Peoples Party leader and senior journalist Taqueer Ahmed has announced that the All-Sindh PPP Gold Cup Inter-Division Girls and Boys Basketball Tournament will be held in Karachi in October.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 20th Summer Girls and Boys Free Basketball Coaching Camp at the International Abdul Nasser Basketball Court, Aram Bagh, Taqueer Ahmed said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is expected to attend the tournament's opening ceremony as chief guest. The coaching camp, organized by the Karachi Basketball Association under the patronage of the Sindh Basketball Association, will continue until July 28. Training sessions will be held from Monday to Friday between 7:30 pm and 11:00 pm, while weekends will remain off.
Taqueer Ahmed praised Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's passion for sports and reiterated his commitment to supporting the promotion and development of basketball in Pakistan. He also lauded Sindh Basketball Association President Ghulam Abbas Jamal Ch, Sindh Secretary Aamir Sharif and Karachi Secretary Zahid Malik for their services to the game.
The camp has attracted a large number of participants aged between 8 and 25 years. Taqueer Ahmed and other speakers commended Camp Commandant Haji M Ashraf Yahya for organising the initiative free of charge. Director Sports, Commissioner Karachi, Ghulam Muhammad Khan also appreciated the organizers and announced the provision of certificates, shirts and tracksuits for coaches participating in the camp.
Sindh Basketball Association Secretary Aamir Sharif, Kashan Ahmed Khan and Zahid Malik also addressed the ceremony, highlighting the importance of grassroots development and youth participation in basketball. Tribute paid to Shahenshah-e-Ghazal Mehdi Hassan.
