Rawalpindi Tigers talent hunt draws over 10,000 registrations
TORONTO - The Rawalpindi Tigers talent-hunt programme has generated tremendous enthusiasm among aspiring cricketers, with more than 10,000 young players registering for trials aimed at identifying the next generation of Pakistan cricket stars. The announcement was made during a joint press conference in Islamabad attended by Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, Lahore Qalandars CEO Atif Rana and former Pakistan captain Younis Khan.
Abbasi described the overwhelming response as a major boost for grassroots cricket and said the Rawalpindi Tigers project was rapidly becoming a reality. He revealed that the trials, previously postponed due to a tragic incident involving the Ali family, will now take place in Rawalpindi from 9am to 6pm. Following the trials, 20 outstanding players will be selected for structured coaching, professional training and long-term development programmes.
Highlighting the partnership between Rawalpindi Tigers and Lahore Qalandars, Abbasi said the initiative would provide talented youngsters with a genuine pathway to higher levels of cricket through a transparent, merit-based selection process. He praised Younis Khan as one of Pakistan’s greatest cricketers and a role model for aspiring players, while commending Atif Rana and Lahore Qalandars for their continued contribution to talent identification across the country.
“Nurturing young talent and bringing youth from mobile screens to playing fields is our priority,” Abbasi said.
