SBBA Announces Wheelchair Basketball Tournaments in Sindh

The Sindh Basketball Association (SBBA) has unveiled a comprehensive plan to promote basketball at the grassroots level across Sindh. The initiative includes wheelchair basketball tournaments, coaching camps, and exhibition matches in Karachi and interior Sindh.

Details of the Initiative

According to a statement issued by SBBA Secretary Amir Sharif on the instructions of President Ghulam Abbas Jamal Chaudhry, the association will provide financial support for installing basketball goal posts at the Sachal Colony Basketball Court in Larkana, with assistance from Berger Paints Pakistan. Renovation work at the court will follow in the second phase.

A committee under the patronage of Assistant Commissioner Aram Bagh Hazim Bhungwar has been formed to organize the activities. International coach Zafar Iqbal Ch, along with Abdullah Imam and Raj Kumar Lakhwani, will supervise the coaching camps.

Sponsorship and Recognition

SBBA patron Zulfiqar Ali Dhot confirmed that the tournaments and camps are sponsored by the Dhot family of Khairpur and former KBBA president Ghulam Muhammad Khan. A prize distribution ceremony will be held at Gilani House in Khairpur, with MNA Nafisa Shah Gilani as the chief guest.

The initiative aims to provide opportunities for differently-abled athletes and foster basketball talent at the grassroots level. The association emphasized its commitment to developing the sport across the province.
