Swabi Youth Naqash Khan Selected as FIFA World Cup 2026 Volunteer

Naqash Khan, a resident of Maneri Bala village in Swabi district, has been chosen as a volunteer for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Preparatory activities for the tournament are currently in progress. The event, featuring 48 nations, will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The FIFA World Cup 2026 is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, and participating teams have started arriving in the host countries.

Naqash Khan's Journey to the World Cup

Speaking to The Nation by phone from Mexico, Naqash Khan stated that he has completed all required documentation and mandatory training. He is fully prepared to serve as a volunteer in the world's biggest football event. He mentioned that over one million people globally applied for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Volunteer Programme, but only about 65,000 applicants were selected.

"Being among those selected is a great honor for me. As a young Pakistani, being present on such a global platform is a matter of pride, joy, and responsibility," he said.

Naqash reflected on his challenging journey. He worked hard in different countries, faced numerous obstacles, learned new languages, experienced diverse cultures, and continued pursuing his dreams despite difficulties.

"Today, being part of the world's biggest sporting event, the FIFA World Cup, proves that hard work, perseverance, and positive thinking can take a person anywhere in the world," he added.

He expressed his hope that his participation would inspire the youth of his district to take on similar roles in future sporting events and motivate them to pursue football with greater dedication.

Responding to a question, he remarked: "I am sure I will greatly enjoy this unique football tournament featuring some of the world's finest players. However, if Pakistan were participating, my happiness would know no bounds."

Background and Impact

Naqash Khan is a youth counselor and social activist from Swabi tehsil. He has previously represented Pakistan in Pakistan Super League-related activities and has participated in various sports tournaments and cultural events in several countries, including the United Arab Emirates.

Leading local football player Jalil Ahmad Khan said that Naqash is a role model for the country's youth, particularly those in Swabi district and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He added that within a short period, Naqash has made a significant contribution at the international level.
