The Bank of Punjab (BoP) Junior National Tennis Championship 2026 concluded at the Sports Board Punjab Tennis Academy, Nishtar Park Sports Complex, Lahore. Hajra Sohail, M. Yahya, Shayan Afridi, and M. Aayan emerged as the standout performers of the tournament.
Hajra Sohail's Double Triumph
Hajra Sohail delivered a remarkable performance by securing two titles. She won the girls U-18 crown with a dominant 6-3, 6-0 victory over Bismel Zia. She then added the girls U-14 title by defeating Khadija Khalil 4-2, 4-1.
Boys U-18 and U-14 Victories
In the boys U-18 final, M. Yahya displayed excellent form to outclass Hamza Ali Rizwan 6-3, 6-1 and claim the championship. Shayan Afridi of Peshawar impressed in the boys U-14 final, winning convincingly 4-2, 4-0 against M. Muaz.
M. Aayan's Successful Outing
M. Aayan enjoyed a successful outing, winning the boys U-12 singles title after defeating M. Faizan 4-2, 4-2. He also partnered with M. Muaz to win the Boys U-14 doubles title with a 4-2, 4-1 victory over Daniyal Abdullah and Ahmad Fareed Yawar.
Other Winners
Shahnoor Umer captured the girls U-12 title by overcoming Eman Shahbaz 4-2, 1-4, 4-1. In the boys U-12 doubles final, Salaar Khan and M. Faizan defeated Riyan Omer Khalil and M. Daniyal 4-0, 4-1. Mustafa Zia claimed the boys/girls U-10 title with a dominant 6-0 win against Wali Abdullah.
Closing Ceremony
Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi graced the closing ceremony as chief guest, while BoP Chief Internal Auditor Syed Rehan attended as guest of honour. The chief guest distributed prizes among the winners and reiterated the Punjab Sports Department’s commitment to promoting grassroots sports and nurturing young talent through regular competitions.
PLTA Senior Executive Vice President Rashid Malik, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, thanked the Bank of Punjab for sponsoring this prestigious tournament. He also expressed gratitude to the Punjab government, including CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz, Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar, Secretary Sports Fazal-ur-Rehman, DG Sports Punjab Tariq Qureshi, and the entire Sports Board Punjab staff for making the event a huge success.
