Islamabad School Sports Year to Begin in April Across All Institutions

Islamabad Unveils Comprehensive Sports Integration Initiative for Education System

The Inter-Provincial Coordination Division (IPC) has announced a landmark initiative to systematically integrate sports into Islamabad's education framework, following extensive consultations with education authorities and national sports federations. Under the leadership of its Secretary, the IPC has developed a structured programme that will transform how physical education and athletic development are approached in the federal capital.

April Launch for Islamabad School Sports Year

Officials have confirmed that the first week of April will simultaneously mark the beginning of both the academic year and the Islamabad School Sports Year. This synchronized commencement will apply universally across all public and private schools, madrassahs, and non-formal education institutions throughout Islamabad, creating a unified approach to sports education.

Pakistan Sports Board to Host Orientation Gala

The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), in partnership with multiple sports federations, will organize an Islamabad Sports Orientation Gala at its facilities as the inaugural event. This gala will specifically target primary and middle school students, providing them with comprehensive exposure to diverse sporting disciplines through interactive sessions, live demonstrations, and hands-on participation opportunities.

Students will receive free access to PSB facilities throughout the programme, complemented by structured coaching sessions conducted by certified trainers. The initiative incorporates a sophisticated talent identification system designed to recognize and nurture promising young athletes at the earliest possible stage of their development.

Comprehensive Range of Sports Disciplines

The programme encompasses an extensive array of sporting activities, ensuring broad participation across both traditional and emerging disciplines:

  • Cricket, hockey, and football
  • Tennis and padel
  • Athletics (track and field events)
  • Cycling and rock climbing
  • Rugby and chess
  • Martial arts including judo and taekwondo

Phased Implementation Strategy

A detailed implementation plan has been established with distinct phases throughout the academic year:

  1. April: Orientation Gala launch event
  2. May to August: Regular coaching sessions and school-level activities
  3. September to December: Inter-school competitions
  4. January to March: Islamabad School Games culmination

Emphasis on Inclusivity and Equity

The initiative places particular emphasis on inclusive participation, with specific provisions for madrassah students, gender equity promotion, and outreach to underserved communities across Islamabad. Educational authorities including the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education and the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen have formally endorsed the programme, describing it as a significant advancement in aligning educational objectives with physical development and youth engagement.

Long-term Objectives and Slogan

Officials stated that the initiative aims to revitalize grassroots sports infrastructure in Islamabad, promote healthy lifestyle choices among students, and establish a sustainable pipeline for developing future athletes. The campaign will be promoted under the slogan: "Khelega Islamabad – Taleem ke Saath, Maidan Mein Saath" (Islamabad Will Play – With Education, Together on the Field), emphasizing the integration of academic and athletic development.
