Lionsgate has initiated a global casting search to find the lead actors for its upcoming live-action adaptation of the beloved manga and anime series Naruto. The studio is now accepting submissions for the roles of Team 7 members: Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno. This worldwide talent hunt represents a significant milestone in bringing Masashi Kishimoto's acclaimed manga to the big screen.

The casting call is open to actors of all backgrounds, with the goal of finding the perfect performers to embody these iconic characters. Additional casting for supporting roles will be announced at a later date. The film is being written and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for helming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Project Background

Lionsgate first announced the live-action Naruto project in February 2024. The manga has sold more than 250 million copies across over 60 countries and territories, cementing its status as one of the most successful Japanese comic series globally. The film is being produced by Avi Arad, Ari Arad, and Emmy Yu for Arad Productions, alongside Jeremy Latcham. Cretton is also producing with Jeyun Munford through his production company, Hisako. Lionsgate previously attempted to develop a Naruto film in 2014 after signing Michael Gracey to direct, but that project did not come to fruition.
