TikTok removed over 22.5 million videos in Pakistan during the first quarter of 2026 for violating its community guidelines, the platform announced on Tuesday. The removals represent a 0.8% removal rate of all videos published in the country, highlighting the company's ongoing content moderation efforts in one of its largest markets.

Proactive Detection and Rapid Removal

According to TikTok's Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for January to March 2026, 99.6% of the removed videos were detected and taken down proactively, with 95.5% removed within 24 hours of being posted. The platform also noted that 690,557 videos were restored after further review.

Globally, TikTok removed approximately 184 million videos during the quarter, representing about 0.5% of all content uploaded. Of these, 178,014,154 were identified and removed using automated detection technologies, while 8,838,710 videos were reinstated following additional review.

Types of Violations

The report detailed that 18.6% of all removed videos contained sensitive or mature themes that violated TikTok's content policies. An additional 12.6% breached the platform's safety and civility standards, while 2.1% were flagged as edited media or AI-generated content.

Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns over objectionable content on TikTok, leading to temporary bans since 2020. The platform removed over 25 million videos from Pakistan in the second quarter of 2025 alone. Since October 2020, Pakistani authorities have blocked TikTok three times, totaling more than 15 months. One ban was lifted in November 2021 after TikTok pledged stronger content moderation.
