Police officials have announced that all procedures for obtaining a driving licence have been shifted to modern digital platforms, following the instructions of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The initiative aims to make the process faster and more convenient for citizens.
Key Reforms in the Licensing System
Under the updated system, applicants can now pay their licence fees through any banking application or other digital payment methods, eliminating the need for traditional payment procedures. Officials stated that the requirement to carry multiple documents has also been abolished as part of the reforms.
Citizens will now only be required to present their original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) to complete the licence application process and obtain a driving licence. This move significantly simplifies the documentation process for applicants.
Broader Government Modernisation Efforts
The digitalisation of driving licence services is part of the government's broader efforts to modernise public services through technology-based solutions. The initiative aims to improve efficiency and reduce manual paperwork in government departments, aligning with the vision of a digitally empowered Pakistan.
In a related development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently met veteran politician Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, underscoring the government's engagement with political stakeholders.
