LAHORE: Police on Saturday issued a warning to citizens against obtaining free SIM cards from street vendors, citing serious concerns over potential misuse of personal data. According to a police spokesperson, multiple complaints have been received by various police departments regarding the alleged exploitation of information provided by individuals while acquiring free SIM cards from unauthorized sellers.

In response to these complaints, police released an advisory urging the public to refrain from accepting free SIM cards from vendors and to exercise extreme caution when sharing personal information and identification documents. The spokesperson advised citizens to obtain SIM cards only through authorized franchises and official service centers to ensure the security of their personal data and avoid any potential misuse.

Police emphasized that the advisory is intended to raise awareness about data protection and to help prevent cyber-related fraud. Authorities also issued a separate travel advisory for Babusar Top amid heavy snowfall and dangerous road conditions.
