2,500 Rural Women Trained in Textile Skills Programme

LAHORE: More than 2,500 rural women have completed training under the 'She Threads' skills development programme over the past two years. The initiative aims to equip them with marketable expertise in the textile sector.

Employment and Training Progress

According to a statement, 773 trained women have secured employment, while another 1,150 are currently undergoing training. Plans are in place to train an additional 1,350 women during the next phase of the programme.

Programme Budget and Benefits

The programme has been allocated a budget of Rs310 million. Participants receive a monthly stipend of Rs15,000 along with a transport allowance to support their attendance and learning.

Eligibility and Implementation

Rural women aged between 18 and 45 years with at least middle-school education are eligible to enrol. The programme is currently being implemented in Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura and Faisalabad.

The programme offers a range of courses, including:

  • Industrial stitching machine operation
  • Fabric quality inspection
  • Fabric cutting
  • Apparel planning and merchandising
  • Apparel supervision
  • Pattern making and cutting
  • Quality control
  • Garment finishing

These courses are designed to provide comprehensive training in various aspects of textile production, enabling women to gain employment in the industry.
