Deputy Commissioner Barrister Bilal Saleem chaired an important review meeting to assess canal water distribution and agricultural affairs across Kot Addu district. The meeting was attended by Executive Engineer (XEN) Irrigation Waseem Janjua, the Assistant Director of Agriculture, officials from relevant departments, and representatives of the farming community.

Direct Interaction with Farmers

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directly interacted with farmers, asking each participant whether canal water was reaching their agricultural lands on time and in adequate quantities. Farmers highlighted concerns regarding water availability and the condition of various canals and watercourses, prompting the Deputy Commissioner to direct the concerned officials to take immediate corrective measures.

Instructions for Equitable Supply

Barrister Bilal Saleem instructed the Executive Engineer Irrigation to ensure the uninterrupted and equitable supply of canal water from the main canals to every farmer’s fields. He emphasized that transparency in water distribution must be maintained, no farming area should face water shortages, and all public complaints should be addressed without delay.

Coordination Between Departments

He also directed the Assistant Director of Agriculture to remain in close coordination with the Irrigation Department and continuously monitor field conditions to ensure timely irrigation of crops and prevent inconvenience to farmers. The Deputy Commissioner reaffirmed that agriculture is the backbone of the national economy and that ensuring the timely availability of canal water for farmers is among the district administration’s highest priorities.

Field Monitoring and Prompt Resolution

He instructed all concerned officers to remain active in the field, closely monitor the irrigation system, resolve issues promptly, and guarantee the delivery of canal water to every cultivator across the district.
