Weather authorities have predicted dust storms and rainfall in several parts of Punjab, including Lahore, as a weak weather system continues to influence the province, offering relief from the recent spell of extreme heat.
Temperature and Weather Conditions
According to the Meteorological Department, Lahore recorded a minimum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius on Saturday, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach around 34 degrees Celsius. Dusty winds accompanied by rain are likely to affect Lahore and various districts of Punjab throughout the day.
PDMA Alert
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert warning of strong winds, rain and possible hailstorms across the province. The authority said showers are expected in most districts of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara, Gujranwala, Hafizabad and Wazirabad. Rainfall is also forecast in Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Khushab, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Kot Addu and Mandi Bahauddin.
The PDMA further indicated that Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang and nearby areas could also receive rain during the current weather spell. The PDMA Director General said all commissioners and deputy commissioners across Punjab have been placed on alert following instructions from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
WASA Preparedness
In Lahore, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has directed its operational teams to remain prepared for any rainfall-related situation.
Advisory for Citizens and Farmers
Authorities have advised citizens to stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid open areas during lightning activity and take necessary precautions against strong winds and dust storms. Farmers have been encouraged to make advance preparations in light of the changing weather, while tourists heading to northern regions have been urged to travel carefully and stay updated on weather conditions.
