ISLAMABAD: As summer holidays settled in and classrooms fell silent, the Summer Schools and Fiesta, a free-of-cost two-week initiative, breathed public school campuses back to life through colorful activities which emphasized learning, creativity and recreation.
Diverse Range of Activities
The festival offered a diverse range of activities, including STEM and robotics courses, Tech Boot camp, drawing and painting, career and professional development, skill-based workshops, creative arts, sports, self-grooming, self-defense, cooking and interactive learning sessions designed to engage students beyond the traditional classroom setting.
Programme Objectives
Organized across multiple model public schools in Islamabad, the programme aimed to build confidence, creativity and practical skills while providing students with a safe and productive way to spend their summer holidays.
IMCG F-10/2 Principal Fatima Mubeen said that around 300 to 400 girls were actively engaged in a variety of skill-based and creative activities under the supervision of trained teachers at the summer festival.
Parental Appreciation
Parents appreciated the initiative, appreciating the provision of free transport and calling it a thoughtful and student-friendly step during the summer holidays. They lauded the programme for making quality learning and skill-building accessible to all, especially students from different backgrounds and expressed satisfaction over the safe, engaging and well-organized environment at the Summer Schools & Fiesta.
Student Participation
Students, including those from private schools also enthusiastically participated in the programme and expressed their excitement about learning new skills. One student said that they were "excited to learn different skills". Another student shared that "arts and drawing sessions are the most enjoyable part". The students said that they look forward to more events like these.
A mother of one student remarked that while many private institutes and summer camps are "minting money," this free of cost initiative favors the public by offering quality learning opportunities in a well-organized manner for students during the summer holidays.
