Jhelum is set to launch a pioneering job centre integrated with a co-working space, aimed at connecting skilled unemployed youth with employers and providing affordable workstations. The initiative, discussed in a review meeting chaired by Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kiyani on Tuesday, involves partnership with the private sector rather than public funding.
Private Sector Partnership Drives the Project
Mr Kiyani stated that the venture is being developed through collaboration with Pakistan Tobacco Company, Al-Suffa, and Colab, which have pledged technical and operational assistance. He emphasized that the project would create new opportunities for young people and could serve as a model for similar initiatives nationwide.
The facility will introduce a professionally managed co-working environment in Jhelum, enabling startups, freelancers, and businesses to operate under one roof. It will also serve as a central platform for employment services and professional networking.
District Administration Pledges Support
Deputy Commissioner Jhelum Mir Reza Ozgen assured that the district administration would provide all necessary administrative support to ensure the timely establishment and smooth functioning of the project. Preparatory work has already begun with the support of partner organizations.
The centre will offer shared workstations and essential equipment to freelancers, entrepreneurs, and young professionals who cannot afford costly infrastructure or rented office space. According to the minister, the facility aims to meet international standards.
