The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has directed officials to formulate a comprehensive strategy to improve the utilisation of the province's mineral resources and boost revenue generation. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Mines and Mineral Development Arif Ahmadzai on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Mines and Minerals Dr Muhammad Israr and other senior departmental officials. Participants received a detailed briefing on the department's performance, ongoing initiatives, and opportunities to increase provincial revenue through efficient and transparent exploitation of mineral resources.
Focus on KP Mineral Development Company
The role of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mineral Development and Management Company (KP-RIISP) in improving resource governance and maximising returns from the province's mineral wealth was also reviewed. Addressing the meeting, Arif Ahmadzai stated that the province's mineral resources are among its most valuable assets and that their transparent, efficient, and sustainable utilisation remains a key priority of the provincial government.
Next Steps and Roadmap
The meeting agreed to convene another session shortly to finalise the company's operational framework and long-term strategy. Officials were directed to prepare a comprehensive presentation outlining practical proposals for improving resource management, increasing revenue, and enhancing institutional performance. The recommendations formulated at the next meeting will be submitted to the Chief Minister and the provincial government for approval and implementation.
