Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan on Thursday directed officials to expedite planning for the Kohat Media Colony project, including the appointment of a consultant to finalise its design and other technical requirements. The directive was issued during a review meeting on the project, where officials informed the minister that 40 kanals of land had already been allocated for the establishment of the media colony.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Information Matiullah Khan, Director General Housing Zahid Khan, Press Registrar Ansarullah Khilji and other relevant officials. Shafi Jan instructed the authorities to appoint a consultant at the earliest so that the project's design, planning and other technical processes could be completed without delay.
Government Commitment to Journalists
He said the provincial government remained committed to fulfilling its promise to provide residential facilities for journalists, adding that funds for media colony projects had been earmarked in the current fiscal year's budget. The minister said journalists' welfare remained one of the government's priorities and directed officials to closely monitor progress on the project to ensure its timely completion.

He reaffirmed the government's commitment to promoting press freedom and continuing initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of journalists.
