Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Abdul Raheem Shirazi conducted field visits to several low-lying roads across the city during Tuesday's rainfall to review traffic management and ensure smooth vehicular movement. The inspection covered key arteries including Mall Road, Lower Mall, and Outfall Road, along with other major thoroughfares.
Traffic Remained Smooth Despite Rain
According to the CTO, traffic flow across the city remained uninterrupted despite the downpour. He attributed this to the timely deployment of personnel and effective traffic management measures implemented by the department. “Traffic remained smooth across the city despite the rain, thanks to timely deployment and effective traffic management measures,” Shirazi stated.
Deployment of Additional Wardens
On his directives, extra traffic wardens were stationed at underpasses and other vulnerable points to assist motorists and prevent congestion. The CTO instructed all traffic officers to regularly visit their respective divisions and circles to monitor the situation and address emerging issues without delay. He emphasized that circle officers were maintaining constant coordination with the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to ensure prompt drainage of rainwater from inundated areas.
Wardens Praised for Professionalism
Shirazi appreciated the dedication of traffic wardens, noting that they were performing their duties professionally despite adverse weather conditions. He reiterated that no disruption to traffic flow would be tolerated and directed wardens to respond promptly to citizens seeking assistance. Additionally, the CTO advised citizens, particularly traffic wardens on field duty, to stay away from electric installations and exposed power infrastructure during rain to avoid untoward incidents.
