The Central Region Motorway Police has implemented new regulations requiring all passenger and cargo vehicles traveling on motorways and national highways to carry functional fire extinguishers. This measure is part of enhanced road safety protocols aimed at mitigating fire-related emergencies.
Mandatory Fire Extinguishers for All Vehicles
A spokesperson for the Central Region Motorway Police stated that vehicles without fire extinguishers will be denied entry onto motorways and national highways under the updated rules. The absence of a fire extinguisher poses a serious threat to passenger safety and can lead to significant property losses during fire incidents.
Fire Safety Awareness Campaign
To promote preventive measures, the Motorway Police has launched a special fire safety awareness campaign running until June 24. During this period, drivers and transport operators will receive education on essential fire prevention and emergency response practices.
Officials have been directed to ensure motorists check the availability and expiry date of fire extinguishers before starting their journeys. Expired fire extinguishers will not be considered valid under the new safety requirements.
Strict Enforcement After June 24
The spokesperson warned that after June 24, strict legal action will be taken against violators. The Motorway Police emphasized that a properly maintained fire extinguisher can save lives and prevent major financial losses during emergencies.
