Nine people sustained injuries, with one in critical condition, following a powerful explosion during gas refilling operations near the Railway Phatak area of Bahawalnagar. Rescue sources reported that the blast occurred due to an accumulation of gas from a leak during the refilling process at a local shop.
Cause of the Explosion
According to rescue officials, gas had built up inside the shop due to a leakage while gas was being refilled. The explosion was triggered by a spark when electricity was suddenly restored after a power outage. The force of the blast caused injuries to nine individuals present at the scene.
Emergency Response and Hospitalization
All injured persons were immediately shifted to the District Hospital Bahawalnagar, where an emergency was declared at the DHQ Hospital. Medical staff are providing treatment to the injured. One critically injured individual is being prepared for referral to Bahawalpur due to the severity of his condition, while others are receiving medical assistance at the local facility.
List of Injured
The injured have been identified as Mursalin, Omar Daraz, Faizan, Faheem, Anwar Hussain, Tauseef, Ehsan Ijaz, Sajid, and Ali Raza. The shopkeeper who was conducting the gas refilling was also seriously injured in the incident.
Police and Administration Response
Upon receiving the report, District Police Officer Muhammad Imran, along with DSP Sadar Circle and other police officials, promptly arrived at the district hospital. The DPO visited the injured and was briefed by hospital administration on their condition.
Medical Facilities
The hospital administration assured that all injured individuals are being provided with the best available medical facilities. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
