Pakistan Customs Seizes 12 kg Marijuana Worth Rs366.2m

Pakistan Customs has thwarted an attempt to smuggle 12 kilogrammes of marijuana with an estimated market value of Rs366.2 million through the international postal system. The seizure occurred on July 4, 2026, at the International Mail Office (IMO) in Karachi during routine scanning operations.

Interception and Discovery

Two parcels originating from Thailand were intercepted after customs officials identified suspicious indicators during the screening process. Preventive Officer Zahid Hussain conducted a comprehensive physical examination of the consignments. The parcels, booked from Bangkok, Thailand, had been declared as containing plastic car toys, Lego sets, model kit paper, and wooden rocks.

A detailed inspection revealed that the parcels had been ingeniously used to conceal 12 kilogrammes of marijuana, hidden inside plastic toy boxes. The contraband was recovered in two consignments weighing 7 kilogrammes and 5 kilogrammes, respectively.
