The Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) have successfully located and recovered the wreckage of a K2 Airways cargo Boeing 737 after a 12-hour search and rescue operation in the deep sea. The wreckage was found approximately 53 nautical miles south of the Ormara coast, according to a statement posted by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on X.
Coordinated Search and Recovery Efforts
The PAA confirmed that naval and maritime rescue teams successfully identified the aircraft wreckage following a coordinated search involving naval and air assets. The authority said rescue efforts remain underway to locate the five crew members who were on board at the time of the incident.
“Pakistan Navy and PMSA vessels, supported by aerial surveillance, continue to comb the search area for additional evidence and any possible survivors,” added the PAA statement. The statement did not disclose the cause of the aircraft’s disappearance, and an investigation is expected to begin after the recovery operation is completed.
Deployment of Resources and Ongoing Mission
The authorities said all available resources have been deployed to support the ongoing search mission. “Further updates will be issued as the operation progresses and more information becomes available regarding the fate of the crew and the circumstances surrounding the cargo plane’s disappearance,” the statement noted.
The recovery operation highlights the capabilities of the Pakistan Navy and PMSA in deep-sea search and rescue. The aircraft, a Boeing 737 operated by K2 Airways, went missing earlier, triggering a large-scale response. The cause of the crash remains unknown, and an investigation will commence once the recovery phase concludes.
