PM Shehbaz Hails Record $41.6B Remittances in FY2025-26

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday praised overseas Pakistanis for sending a record $41.6 billion in remittances during the 2025-26 fiscal year. In a statement, the prime minister said the 8.6% increase in remittances reflected overseas Pakistanis’ confidence in the government’s policies. Calling overseas Pakistanis a valuable asset, the premier said, “The entire nation is proud of them.” PM Shehbaz also assured them that steps for their welfare were among the government’s priorities.

Adviser Highlights Historic Milestone

Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad also acknowledged the “highest-ever annual remittances in history,” saying June alone accounted for at least $3.5 billion of the total $41.6 billion received during the fiscal year. “This historic milestone reflects the unwavering confidence of overseas Pakistanis and reinforces Pakistan's external sector resilience, stronger foreign exchange buffers, and improving macroeconomic fundamentals,” Schehzad said in a post on X.

Remittance Growth Trend from FY2023 to FY2026

Highlighting the remittance trend from FY2023 to FY2026, Schehzad said inflows grew by 9% in FY2026. He added that remittances had increased by 11% in FY2024 and 26% in FY2025. Schehzad further said Pakistan received $38.3 billion in remittances during FY2025, compared with $30.3 billion in FY2024 and $27.3 billion in FY2023.
