The LEGO Group and FIFA have unveiled the world's largest LEGO FIFA World Cup Trophy at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, a towering installation standing 8.47 metres tall. Recognised as the largest mobile LEGO structure ever built, the replica was modelled on the iconic FIFA World Cup Trophy and features over 1.36 million LEGO bricks.
Unveiling Ceremony with Cafu
Former Brazil captain and World Cup winner Cafu joined fans from around the world to place the final bricks during the unveiling. "The FIFA World Cup Trophy is one of the most famous symbols in sport," Cafu said. "Seeing it built like this with LEGO bricks is truly incredible." He added that football has always been about bringing people together and described the installation as a celebration of the sport's global appeal.
Construction and Logistics
The project took a team of 59 designers, engineers and builders more than 7,000 hours to complete at a production facility in the Czech Republic. Planned over eight months, the structure weighs approximately 4.2 tonnes and is supported by an internal steel frame. To make transportation possible, the trophy was constructed in 16 separate sections before being shipped to New York and assembled on site.
LEGO Fan Zone Experience
The installation serves as the centrepiece of the new LEGO Fan Zone at Rockefeller Plaza, where it will be on display from July 6 to 19. Admission to the attraction is free. Visitors can also explore a range of interactive activities, including LEGO building stations, custom minifigure creation areas and a collaborative brick mural.
Part of LEGO's Football Campaign
The display forms part of LEGO's wider football campaign, which recently introduced its "LEGO Editions" collection, featuring official LEGO minifigures inspired by football stars Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior. The trophy installation is a key highlight ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
