Punjab CM Lauds Women Completing Vocational Training Programme

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has congratulated women who completed their training under the Skill Enhancement Through Home Reach Programme, an initiative designed to provide vocational skills to women across the province.

Programme Overview and Budget

The provincial government has allocated Rs970 million for the programme, which aims to offer vocational training to 5,365 women. Trainees receive laptops, internet devices, data packages, and a monthly stipend. Preference is given to widows, differently-abled women, and those from minority communities.

Training Modules and Reach

Women in remote, semi-urban, and urban areas are trained in beautification services, hospitality, and digital technology. The first batch of trainees from Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, and Gujranwala has completed its training. Beautification courses, including hair styling, skin care, makeup, and nail art, are being offered to 2,065 women in four districts. Hospitality training, in collaboration with the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHM), covers culinary arts, baking, guest relations, front desk, and airline management, with 1,260 women enrolled.

Impact and Future Plans

According to a statement, the programme aims to empower women economically by equipping them with marketable skills. The CM expressed hope that the trained women would contribute to the provincial economy and inspire others to pursue skill development.
