Revenue Department Mailsi Launches 100% Abiyaana Collection Drive

On the directives of the Punjab government, the Revenue Department in Mailsi has initiated a comprehensive campaign to achieve 100 percent collection of abiyaana, the water rate tax on agricultural land. The drive involves field teams comprising Tehsildar, Gurdawar (Qango), and Patwaris, operating under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner Mailsi. Large-scale action has been launched against defaulters across the tehsil.

Assistant Commissioner Leads Field Visits

Assistant Commissioner Mailsi, accompanied by the Tehsildar and other revenue field staff, conducted visits to several villages within the tehsil. During these visits, strict orders were issued to Patwaris to remain present on-site and ensure the collection of abiyaana dues. The Assistant Commissioner emphasized that no leniency or concessions would be tolerated in the collection process. According to official sources, defaulting landowners or farmers who fail to pay despite repeated reminders will face stringent legal action under the Land Revenue Act.

Emergency Campaign and On-Spot Collection

As part of this emergency campaign, field teams have been tasked to visit their respective areas and recover all arrears immediately. Patwaris have been directed to go directly to the fields, cattle ranches, and camps to meet landowners and facilitate on-the-spot clearance of official abiyaana challans. Officers have warned that full force of the law will be applied against those who undermine the government treasury. In a related development, five officials of the Sindh Food Department were dismissed from service over misappropriation of funds.
