Saudi program to train 500 Yemeni teachers digitally

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has signed an agreement with King Abdulaziz University's Almobdioon Center for Studies and Research to launch a digital empowerment project for Yemeni teachers. The initiative aims to strengthen the capabilities of 500 male and female educators in Aden, Hadramout, Al-Mahra, and Socotra, focusing on modern digital technologies.

Project Objectives

The project seeks to enhance the professional and technical skills of teachers in the education process. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the program will equip educators to effectively integrate modern technologies into their classrooms.

Signing Ceremony

Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Jaber, general supervisor of SDRPY, and Esam Kawther, CEO of the Almobdioon Center, represented their respective sides at the signing ceremony. Yemen’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Afrah Al-Zouba, and Deputy Minister of Education for the Training Sector, Zaid Qahtan, joined the event remotely.

Training Program Details

The project will enhance teachers' technical and professional skills through a specialized training program that combines in-person and virtual learning. It includes two main tracks:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Content Generation: This track trains teachers to use AI tools for developing educational materials.
  • Digital Instructional Design: This track enables educators to create interactive digital learning content aligned with modern educational practices.

Broader Context

The project is part of SDRPY's broader efforts to support Yemen's education sector and strengthen human capital through sustainable development initiatives. These efforts aim to build national capabilities and keep pace with digital transformation in education.
