On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Gujrat Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) is continuing a special drainage operation across the city ahead of the monsoon season under the supervision of Managing Director WASA Kashan Hafeez Butt.
Round-the-Clock Cleaning Operations
According to official sources, WASA teams are working round the clock to improve the city’s sewerage and drainage system. Under the operation, major drains, manholes and sewerage lines are being cleaned, desilted and cleared of blockages to ensure the smooth disposal of rainwater during the monsoon.
Use of Modern Machinery and Manpower
The sources said modern machinery and manpower were being utilized to keep the drainage system fully functional and provide citizens with a clean, safe and improved environment. The initiative aims to mitigate the risk of urban flooding and waterlogging that often disrupts daily life during heavy rains.
