Police in Mailsi have launched an investigation after the bodies of a young man and woman were discovered under mysterious circumstances in agricultural fields in the Fida area on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Hafiz Mushahid and Shaheen, both residents of Basti Noor Pura.
Discovery and Initial Response
According to police officials, the bodies were found in fields in Basti Noor Pura after authorities received information about the incident. Police teams promptly arrived at the scene, took the corpses into custody, and transported them to the tehsil headquarters hospital for post-mortem examination.
Station House Officer (SHO) Farooq Ramzan confirmed that investigators are reviewing all available evidence and probing every possible angle to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths. He emphasized that no conclusion can be drawn until post-mortem and forensic reports are received.
Possible Motive and Family Opposition
Preliminary inquiries suggest that Hafiz Mushahid and Shaheen wished to marry, but their families allegedly opposed the proposal. Investigators are examining suggestions that the couple may have consumed poisonous tablets. However, police stressed that the cause of death has not yet been established.
SHO Ramzan stated, "We are looking into all possibilities, including the theory of suicide by poison, but we cannot confirm anything without forensic evidence." He added that neither family had submitted a formal complaint as of Thursday evening, so no case has been registered yet.
Forensic Examination and Legal Proceedings
After completing medico-legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to the families for burial. Police collected evidence from the scene for forensic examination. The post-mortem reports and forensic analysis are expected to provide crucial clues.
