A 10-year-old girl was found dead in a washroom of a tuition centre in the Ichhra area of Lahore on Thursday, prompting police to launch an investigation.
Incident Details
According to police, the victim, identified as Naima, had gone to attend classes at the tuition centre, where she had been studying for about one-and-a-half years. She was later found unconscious inside the locked washroom. The police said teachers, family members, and local residents broke open the washroom door after noticing that the girl was missing.
Emergency Response and Death
She was rushed to a nearby hospital on a motorcycle, where doctors pronounced her dead. The body was shifted to a morgue after forensic officials completed initial examination at the spot. It was sent for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
Police Investigation
Model Town Superintendent of Police (SP) Asad Ali visited the place along with a police contingent. He said the circumstances surrounding the child's death would become clear after the investigation and post-mortem report. The police said no possibility has been ruled out and all aspects of the case were being investigated.
Family's Account
The victim's father said he had received a phone call informing him that his daughter had fallen unconscious at the centre. He said Naima had been attending the academy for about one-and-a-half years and two other girls from the family also studied there. He added that doctors had asked whether there had been marks on the child's neck before the incident, but there were no such marks when she had left home. Suspecting foul play, he appealed to authorities to ensure justice.
