The Sindh Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), in collaboration with an intelligence agency, has arrested two alleged militants linked to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), thwarting a significant terrorist plot in Karachi. According to a CTD Sindh spokesman on Tuesday, the suspects, identified as Mujahid Baloch (son of Dil Jan) and Farid Baloch alias Zakir (son of Ejaz Ahmed), had received training at BLA camps.
Training and Instructions
The spokesman stated that the suspects underwent reconnaissance and communication training and were residing in Karachi on the directives of BLA commanders Sajid Baloch and Bashir Zaib. They were tasked with collecting intelligence on sensitive installations and establishing a network to carry out attacks targeting these sites and law enforcement agencies.
Recovered Materials
During the operation, CTD officials recovered four kilograms of explosive material, detonators, prima cord, and ball bearings from the suspects' possession. These materials indicate the potential for high-impact attacks.
Legal Proceedings
Cases have been registered against the arrested individuals at the CTD police station, and further investigation is ongoing. The arrests underscore the continued threat posed by militant groups in the region.
