The Deputy Director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Anti-Corruption wing have initiated an inquiry into a complaint against the District Food Controller of Islamabad, Allah Bachayo. The complaint pertains to the alleged embezzlement of funds following the confiscation and sale of flour valued at Rs38.44 million in the open market. The flour was seized from two heavy trucks belonging to a prominent flour mill.
Investigation Launched
According to sources, the officials summoned the district food controller after commencing the investigation. The flour mill owners, along with the Flour Mills Association, staged strong protests over the matter. During the FIA inquiry, the complaint was reportedly found to be prima facie correct. FIA officials, in the presence of food department officers, FIA teams, and representatives of the Flour Mills Association, recovered Rs23.784 million from the official's bank account. An additional Rs14.65 million has been demanded from the accused.
Recovery and Concerns
The recovery has caused concern within the food department, with fears that several similar complaints may now come to light. The trucks in question were seized in February this year. Subsequently, mill owner Abdul Samad Sethi filed a complaint with the FIA Islamabad, alleging misappropriation of funds. The FIA is continuing its investigation to uncover any further irregularities.
