Karachi Cash Van Heist Solved: Rs 200 Million Recovered

Karachi police have successfully solved a high-profile cash van robbery of Rs 300 million within a few days, arresting the principal accused and recovering Rs 200 million. The breakthrough was announced during a joint press conference at the office of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) West on Tuesday.

Details of the Robbery and Arrest

DIG West Irfan Baloch and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central Dr. Imran Khan revealed that on June 12, a cash van belonging to a private company was robbed while transporting money from a bank under the jurisdiction of the Joharabad police station. The police team arrested the principal accused, identified as Muhammad Ali alias Ali Langra, and recovered Rs 200 million out of the total looted amount of Rs 300 million. Additionally, the cash van and a car used in the crime were also recovered.

The suspect originally hails from Swat but has been residing in Karachi for a long time, leading the robbery operations. The other suspects involved in the heist belong to Parachinar, District Kurram, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and have fled with the remaining stolen money.

Inside Help and Ongoing Operations

During the investigation, Wajid, son of Mir Lala, the chief crew member of the security van, was found to be involved in the incident. Operations are currently underway to arrest the other suspects and recover the rest of the looted money.

Police Appreciation and Reward

Inspector General of Police Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, appreciated the police team for their dedication and professionalism in resolving the cash van robbery case. He announced a Rs 500,000 cash reward as well as commendation certificates for the police team.

In a separate incident, three suspected robbers were killed in a shootout with the CCD police in Chiniot.
