LAHORE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested an employee of the Market Committee in Punjab for allegedly accepting a bribe. The suspect, identified as Muhammad Asghar, a patwari in the Market Committee, was caught red-handed while taking Rs 20,000 from a complainant.
Details of the Arrest
According to an ACE spokesperson, the arrest was made during a raid at the Market Committee office. The complainant had reported that Asghar demanded a bribe to process his documents. The ACE team set up a trap and apprehended the suspect as he accepted the money.
Legal Action
A case has been registered against Muhammad Asghar under the Anti-Corruption Act. The ACE official stated that further investigation is underway to determine if other employees are involved in similar practices. The crackdown on corruption in government departments continues, with the ACE urging citizens to report any instances of bribery.
