PIA Increases Free Baggage Allowance on Pakistan-China Routes

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced an increase in free baggage allowance for passengers traveling between Pakistan and China, state media reported on Sunday. The move is part of the airline's efforts to improve services on its Beijing route.

Under the revised policy, economy class passengers can now carry up to 50kg of baggage, up from the previous 40kg. Executive economy passengers see their allowance increased to 60kg from 50kg. According to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), the airline aims to offer one of the most competitive baggage provisions in the market, providing greater convenience and value to travelers.

Resumption of Direct Islamabad-Beijing Flights

PIA will resume direct flights between Islamabad and Beijing on July 3, after suspending services in April due to a sharp rise in jet fuel prices amid the Middle East conflict. The airline said the increase in free baggage allowance is part of its effort to improve affordability, comfort, and customer experience.

According to the airline, the improvements aim to better serve students, business travelers, families, and tourists, while also supporting the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China.

Partnerships with Chinese Airlines Enhance Connectivity

The report said PIA’s partnerships with Air China and Shenzhen Airlines have strengthened air connectivity by offering smoother connections and competitive fares. This enables passengers from 25 cities across China to travel to Islamabad via Beijing.

Earlier this year, PIA had also suspended and reduced flights to Kuala Lumpur and several Middle Eastern destinations amid the US–Iran conflict. The latest enhancements on the China route signal a strategic focus on expanding services to key international markets.
