Zoom's Saudi investments top $80m, supporting digital growth

Zoom's global investments in the Saudi market have exceeded SR300 million ($80 million), according to Mohannad Al-Kalash, the company's vice president for the Middle East, Turkey, Africa, and Pakistan, in remarks to Al-Eqtisadiah. The executive highlighted a strong focus on Saudi Arabia, particularly the partnership with Aramco, which has bolstered Zoom's regional presence and supported local content. This collaboration is considered one of the key initiatives contributed by the company.

Strategic priority for the Kingdom

Al-Kalash confirmed that the company's leadership of the METAP region gives Saudi Arabia a distinct strategic priority. He revealed that Zoom's projects are concentrated in technology infrastructure sectors, including the establishment of data centers in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, efforts are underway to develop talent and facilitate access for government entities to certified solutions. Localization in the company's Saudi office has exceeded 84 percent, with Saudis making up the majority of the workforce. Al-Kalash expressed pride in this achievement, noting that local talent is the foundation of Zoom's success in the region.

Zoom's global user base and services

Al-Kalash pointed out that Zoom currently serves more than 350 million users globally. The platform now provides integrated unified communications services to various government and private entities in the Kingdom, including video meetings, audio conferences, collaboration rooms, and instant messaging. Zoom, founded in 2011, experienced rapid global growth during the COVID-19 pandemic as remote work and online learning became widespread, establishing itself as a key communication tool for businesses, educational institutions, and individuals worldwide.

Digital transformation as a growth opportunity

Al-Kalash emphasized strong growth opportunities in Saudi Arabia, stating that the market is thriving. With digital transformation, most of the population in the Kingdom relies heavily on applications. This enhances Zoom's ability to operate through its own platform and other applications, delivering a seamless and secure communication experience for everyone. Since its launch, Zoom has become a leading global platform for video and audio communications, providing integrated cloud-based solutions including meetings, webinars, workspaces, contact centers, and cloud telephony, with a strong emphasis on security and encryption.
