Six Killed in Karakoram Highway Car Plunge

A devastating road accident on the Karakoram Highway in Lower Kohistan has resulted in the loss of six lives. The incident occurred when a passenger car, bearing registration number AFB-324, veered off the road and plunged into a deep ravine near the Taris Banda area.

Details of the Accident

According to Rescue 1122 officials, the vehicle was traveling from Gilgit to Rawalpindi when the fatal accident took place. All six occupants of the car died at the scene. The accident was reported on Tuesday, and rescue teams immediately responded.

Rescue and Recovery Operation

Rescue teams from Rescue 1122, along with personnel from Patan Police Station, Kero Check Post, and Mata Banda Check Post, rushed to the site after receiving reports of the crash. With the assistance of local residents, emergency responders launched a rescue operation in the difficult mountainous terrain. Rescue officials stated that the challenging location of the accident extended the rescue efforts, which took nearly three hours to complete.

The bodies of all victims were subsequently shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Patan.

Identification of Victims

The deceased have been identified as Suleman Khan, son of Mahmood Taj and a resident of Muzaffarabad; Muhammad Shaban, son of Akhtar Mian and a resident of Khanewal; as well as Imran and Daniyal. The identities of two other victims have not yet been confirmed.

Investigation Underway

Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances that led to the vehicle leaving the roadway.
