The federal government has announced revisions to petroleum levy rates and related charges on various fuel products, adjusting levies, freight margins, and incidental duties while keeping dealer margins unchanged.
Petrol and Diesel Levy Adjustments
According to an official notification, the petroleum levy on petrol has been reduced by Rs9.34 per litre, lowering the rate from Rs116.08 to Rs106.74 per litre. In contrast, the levy on high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs8.67 per litre, taking it from Rs44.59 to Rs53.26 per litre.
Freight Margins and Incidental Charges
The notification also revealed a reduction in freight margins, with the margin on petrol cut by Rs4.45 per litre and the freight margin on high-speed diesel reduced by Rs2.01 per litre. Meanwhile, incidental charges and duties on petrol have been increased by Rs9.30 per litre. Similar charges on diesel, however, have been reduced by Rs9.57 per litre as part of the revised pricing structure.
Dealer Margins Unchanged
The government has decided to maintain dealers' margins on both petrol and high-speed diesel at Rs8.64 per litre, providing stability for fuel retailers despite the broader adjustments.
Other Fuel Products
The notification further stated that the petroleum levy on kerosene oil remains unchanged at Rs20.36 per litre, while the levy on light diesel oil has been fixed at Rs15.84 per litre. Additionally, the levy on high-octane fuel has been maintained at Rs305.37 per litre, while furnace oil will continue to be subject to a levy of Rs77 per litre.
Officials said the revisions are part of the government's ongoing fuel pricing and revenue management framework, which periodically adjusts levies and charges in response to fiscal requirements and market conditions.
