The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), have launched an online birth and death registration service through the Pak ID App. This new service enables residents of Islamabad to register births and deaths and obtain certificates without visiting government offices.
Inauguration Ceremony
The facility was formally inaugurated by Chief Commissioner Islamabad and CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf on Saturday. Senior officials of MCI, CDA, and NADRA attended the ceremony. During a briefing, officials stated that residents would no longer be required to visit MCI offices or union councils for birth and death registration, as applications can now be submitted from home.
How the Service Works
According to officials, the new service allows citizens to complete the entire process online, including submission of applications, secure payment of fees, and receipt of digital certificates through the Pak ID App. Approved digital certificates will be issued directly to applicants through their mobile devices. This initiative is part of MCI’s ongoing digitalisation programme aimed at improving public service delivery.
Official Comments
Speaking on the occasion, Sohail Ashraf said the move would save time and resources for citizens while enhancing convenience, efficiency, and transparency in the provision of public services. He added that CDA, MCI, and the Islamabad Capital Territory administration, in collaboration with NADRA and other institutions, are working to expand the use of technology to improve service delivery and facilitate citizens at their doorsteps.
