KP Excise Seals Properties Over Tax Defaults in Peshawar, Mansehra

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has intensified its campaign against property tax defaulters, sealing a number of commercial units and properties in Peshawar and Mansehra as part of an ongoing revenue recovery drive.

Operations in Peshawar

In Peshawar, enforcement teams carried out operations against major defaulters on University Road under the supervision of Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO-III) Property Tax Zahid Iqbal. Several commercial premises, including outlets of well-known brands, were sealed after owners failed to clear outstanding tax liabilities despite repeated notices.

Separately, Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO-VI) Property Tax Peshawar Ijaz Anwar oversaw field operations in various parts of the provincial capital. Accompanied by departmental staff, he visited a number of properties and urged owners to settle pending dues to avoid legal action. During the inspections, officials identified several properties with long-outstanding tax liabilities. Enforcement measures were initiated against persistent defaulters, resulting in the sealing of additional units, while final notices were issued to a number of property owners directing them to clear their dues within the stipulated period.

Similar operations were conducted in Mansehra, where departmental teams sealed several properties over non-payment of property tax and initiated legal proceedings to recover outstanding government revenues.

Revenue Importance and Future Actions

Officials said property tax remained a key source of provincial revenue, helping finance public services, infrastructure projects and other development initiatives. They urged property owners to fulfil their legal obligations and ensure timely payment of taxes to avoid penalties and enforcement action. The department reiterated its commitment to transparent and effective tax administration, stating that operations against defaulters would continue across the province without discrimination and that all available legal measures would be utilised to protect public revenue and improve tax compliance.
