Urdu University Students Hail First Green Journalism Conference

ISLAMABAD - Students of the Federal Urdu University, Islamabad, have extended their congratulations to Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari (SI, TI), the university administration, and the faculty of the Department of Mass Communication on the successful organization of Pakistan’s first Green Journalism Conference.

Students Express Gratitude for International Exposure

In a joint statement, the students expressed that the conference provided them with valuable international exposure and a unique learning experience. They noted that the event not only heightened awareness about environmental issues but also helped them acquire practical skills related to event management and professional communication.

The students particularly appreciated the international academic connections established by the Vice Chancellor and expressed happiness over the global participation in the conference. They said that Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari remained actively involved throughout the event and worked tirelessly to ensure its success. According to the students, the credit for organizing such a prestigious academic conference goes largely to the leadership and vision of the Vice Chancellor.

Enhanced University Reputation and Student Showcase

They further stated that the conference enhanced the reputation of the university at the national level and provided students with an excellent platform to demonstrate their creative and research abilities. Through research posters and documentaries on environmental issues and Green Journalism, students were able to showcase their talent and academic potential.

Prominent Personalities Graced the Occasion

The participation of Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar and Member of the National Assembly Farhan Chishti added significance to the conference. Students also highlighted the opportunity to interact with leading journalists including Talat Hussain, Javed Chaudhry, Aizaz Syed, and Rauf Klasra, which helped them gain a better understanding of the media profession.

The students thanked the COMSTECH administration, especially Coordinator General Prof. Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary and Dr Javaid Khurshid, for their valuable partnership and support in making the conference a success.

They also appreciated the efforts of Conference Secretary Dr Sikandar Zarren, Assistant Professor and department coordinator of Mass Communication, for his dedication, organizational skills, and effective management of conference activities, media coverage, and research poster supervision. The students further expressed gratitude to Head of Department Dr Faisal Javaid and all faculty members for their guidance and support throughout the event.
