Lahore Police Finalise Muharram Security Plan

Lahore Police have finalised comprehensive security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram, ensuring peace and order across the city. Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, Bilal Siddique Kamyana, chaired a high-level meeting at the Capital City Police Headquarters to review security measures for the holy month.

Meeting Overview and Briefings

The meeting assessed the overall law-and-order situation and examined the detailed security plan for Muharram. The Deputy Inspector General (Operations) and the Superintendent of Police (Security) provided briefings on identified flashpoints and the security measures devised to address potential threats.

Surveillance and SOP Enforcement

CCPO Kamyana directed strict surveillance of sensitive locations and identified hotspots across Lahore. Building Clearance and Public Safety

The CCPO asked concerned officers to obtain clearance certificates from owners and residents of buildings located on procession routes to ensure public safety. This measure aims to mitigate risks and enhance security coordination with the community.

Traffic Management and Parking Plan

To facilitate mourners and the general public, CCPO Kamyana instructed the Chief Traffic Officer to formulate a comprehensive traffic management and parking plan for Muharram. The plan will address the movement of processions and minimise disruption to daily commuters.

Preventive Measures Against Hazards

Supervisory officers were directed to take preventive measures against electrical hazards, including risks posed by power poles and exposed wiring, particularly during rainfall. This proactive approach aims to prevent accidents during processions.

Welfare of Police Personnel

Recognising the dedication of the police force assigned to Muharram duties, the CCPO directed the SP (Headquarters) to ensure timely provision of meals and drinking water to officials performing security assignments. This welfare measure underscores the importance of supporting personnel during extended duty hours.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of Lahore Police's commitment to maintaining peace and security throughout Muharram-ul-Haram.
