Justin Baldoni and his wife, Emily Baldoni, have broken nearly two years of silence following the settlement of the legal dispute tied to the 2024 film It Ends with Us. In an Instagram video, the couple discussed the trauma of the case and their commitment to healing and family.
First Public Statement in Two Years
"We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it's not because we haven't had anything to say," Justin said. He added, "We are healing. If you've ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isn't linear." Emily described the experience as involving "a lot of trauma" but noted that their gratitude "doesn't negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years." She stated, "The truth and the facts have spoken for themselves."
Background of the Legal Dispute
The dispute began in December 2024 when Blake Lively filed a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment and retaliation against Baldoni. Baldoni denied the allegations and countersued Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, publicist Leslie Sloane, and Sloane's PR firm for $400 million, claiming defamation and breach of contract. That countersuit was later dismissed.
Settlement Reached Before Trial
The parties reached a settlement before the case was set for trial in New York. A subsequent court filing showed that Lively dismissed her remaining claims without Wayfarer paying any of the $300 million in damages she had sought. A judge later ruled that Lively could seek attorneys' fees related to Baldoni's countersuit, while any claim for treble or punitive damages would require separate legal action.
Moving Forward
Justin said he and Emily have become "closer, more devoted, and steadfast in our faith" and will continue to focus on their family and recovery. The couple expressed gratitude for the support they have received during the legal battle.
