Just weeks before reports emerged that he and actress Margaret Qualley had separated after less than three years of marriage, musician Jack Antonoff spoke positively about married life. The 42-year-old said he “love[s] being married” during an appearance on NBC's Today in May, a month before news of the reported split became public.
Antonoff's Comments on Today Show
During the interview, presenter Craig Melvin asked Antonoff whether he planned to attend any major weddings over the summer, an apparent reference to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding. Antonoff initially redirected the conversation by asking Melvin about his own marriage. After Melvin said he had been happily married to Lindsay Czarniak for 15 years, he repeated the question. Antonoff replied, “Uh, I hope. Yeah, I hope so, man.” When asked where he would be attending, Antonoff laughed and said, “Uh yeah. I love being married, man. I’m happy you love being married too!”
Confirmation of Separation
It was confirmed on Wednesday that Antonoff and Qualley had separated. Speculation about the couple's relationship status gained momentum after Antonoff attended Swift and Kelce's wedding without Qualley, instead arriving with his sister, designer Rachel Antonoff. Qualley's absence from both the rehearsal dinner and wedding prompted speculation about the couple's relationship.

A source told Page Six that differences in communication had contributed to difficulties in the marriage. “Jack could be very particular about how he liked things,” the source said. “He’d often prefer for things to be done the way he thought was best, and Margaret didn’t always feel like her perspective was being heard or given the same weight.” The insider added, “Communication was definitely a challenge between him and Margaret.”
Marriage and Current Status
Antonoff and Qualley married in August 2023 in New Jersey. Antonoff was later photographed in New York City still wearing his wedding ring following reports of the separation.
