The Lahore district administration has ramped up its efforts to combat polio and dengue, launching comprehensive drives across the city. Officials announced that the anti-polio campaign will focus on high-risk union councils, ensuring that every child under the age of five receives the oral polio vaccine. Special mobile teams have been deployed to reach children in slums and remote areas, with strict monitoring to avoid missed cases.
Enhanced Anti-Dengue Measures
Simultaneously, the anti-dengue drive has been intensified, with field teams conducting door-to-door inspections to eliminate mosquito breeding sites. The administration has warned of strict action against property owners who fail to maintain cleanliness and allow stagnant water to accumulate. Fumigation drives are being carried out in dengue hotspots, and awareness sessions are being held in schools and community centers to educate residents about preventive measures.
Coordination and Public Participation
The district coordination officer emphasized the importance of public cooperation, urging citizens to report any suspected cases or breeding sites. Health department officials are working in close collaboration with the municipal corporation to ensure timely response. The campaigns are part of a broader strategy to achieve polio eradication and control dengue outbreaks before the monsoon season.
Residents have been advised to use mosquito repellents, wear protective clothing, and keep their surroundings clean. The administration has also launched a helpline for dengue-related queries and complaints. With these intensified efforts, Lahore aims to significantly reduce the incidence of both diseases and protect public health.
