Rawalpindi DC Enforces Zero-Tolerance Against Dengue

DC Chairs High-Level Meeting on Dengue Control

Deputy Commissioner Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir on Wednesday ordered strict implementation of a zero-tolerance policy against dengue, directing all departments to remain actively mobilized in the field under a coordinated strategy. The directives were issued while chairing a high-level meeting of the District Emergency and Response Committee for Dengue Control.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Abdul Rahman Khan, the chief executive officer of the health department, and representatives from the district administration, health department, and other relevant sectors.

Review of Anti-Dengue Activities

During the meeting, the DC reviewed the progress of anti-dengue activities across the district, including indoor and outdoor surveillance, monitoring of high-risk hotspots, larvae elimination, sanitation conditions, and public awareness campaigns. Representatives from various departments briefed the chair on their respective performance and future action plans.

Emphasis on SOP Compliance and Coordination

DC Nadeem Nasir emphasized that all departments must ensure full compliance with anti-dengue Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and accelerate their daily field operations. He stated that the timely elimination of potential breeding sites, continuous monitoring of sensitive locations, and effective inter-departmental coordination are crucial to preventing the spread of the virus.

Furthermore, he stressed the need to intensify public awareness campaigns, encouraging citizens to maintain cleanliness in their homes, offices, and surroundings to ensure there is no stagnant water. Warning against any negligence, the deputy commissioner directed that regular monitoring of all activities be conducted, and strict action be taken against any officials found failing in their duties.

Commitment to Public Health

In line with the directives of the government of Punjab, the DC reiterated the district administration’s commitment to utilizing all available resources to ensure a safe environment and protect the health of the citizens.
